Vision & Mission

To regulate the Practice of Human Resource Management in Nigeria and Promote Excellence in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills by Practitioners, thereby contributing to sustainable National Development’.

Our Vision
‘To be the foremost People Management Institute in Africa, respected across the World’

We believe that by growing and developing a community of professionals that champion better work and working lives, we'll help ensure that work creates value for individuals, organisations, economies and society.
Our vision is to define and represent the international benchmark for excellence in people and organisation management and development.

We'll do this by:

  • Using our voice to influence relevant stakeholders and encourage them to invest in the HR profession, as well as other capabilities that help to champion better work and working lives
  • Ensuring that the HR profession (and AICPM membership) remains respected and trusted all around the world by broadening and strengthening the definition of professionalism in HR, and ensuring that the HR professionals of the future are equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to earn that trust and respect
  • Investing in the AICPM’s own future as a sustainable knowledge business that sets the standard of excellence in people and organisation development
  • The AICPM was granted Royal Charter in July 2000, having demonstrated pre-eminence, public interest, stability and permanence. This was followed in July 2003 by the power to confer individual Chartered status on HR and L&D professionals. Learn more about our Chartered members.
  • Our Charter and Bye-laws constitute our governing document, setting out our charitable purpose, our powers and how we are constituted. To amend our Charter, we need approval from at least 75% of those voting at our annual general meeting (AGM), as well as approval from the Privy Council and endorsement from the Charity Commission.
  • In addition, our Regulations, which are approved by our Board of Trustees, set out how our powers are put into practice through various terms of reference and governance procedures in support of our Charter.
The AICPM is a registered charity. Our charitable purpose, as prescribed in our Charter and Bye-laws, is to promote the art and science of the management and development of people, for the public benefit.
